Today, I had a coffee chat with one of the Professors who taught for Professional Development program. He emphasized the importance of presence and communication in interviews, and he explained that we have to understand that we need to consider all of mind, heart, and instinct when we want to persuade people. This conversation happened after I went to a technology career fair where everyone mostly talked about technical skills. After getting feedback about communication, I thought of my Communicating Data and Statistics class because now it all seemed to make sense--what statistical analysis itself can offer (p-values, statistical models, prediction, etc.) is valuable, but after all we need to share the interpretation with whoever we are working with.
